It was a beautiful sunny day. From the very morning guests from around the world gathered in the Żeleński Palace near Krakow. Literally. Friends and family of the bride and groom came to Krakow for an outdoor wedding from almost all continents of the world. The heroes of this day – Sumer and Rafal – planned their ceremony in a unique place – the Żeleński Palace.

Despite its small size, our wedding was very international! We put in a lot of effort to bring our guests from around the world together for a day of celebration. We hope they left feeling like they experienced something a bit different – our Polish guests got a feel of what an American wedding is like and our international guests got to experience bits and pieces of a Polish wedding. Outdoor wedding with a celebrant at the Żeleński Palace
Summer and Rafał are a Polish-American couple. Summer is a native American and Rafał is originally from Poland, but he has lived in the US for years. They eloped in Denmark a summer before the wedding, but haven yet had a reception to celebrate with friends and family and they thought why not in magical Krakow? They moved to Krakow because Rafal has been curious to live in Poland again ever since emigrating to the US as a child. What is more, Summer has an adventurous spirit and enjoy new cultures and languages. That’s all why this two have decided to organize a short outdoors symbolic ceremony followed by an outdoor reception.

The two of them, S + R, in their search for service providers for their outdoor wedding began with a recommendation. They were looking for opinions among friends and on the Internet. However, one of the decisive issues in choosing a wedding photographer was also whether he or she speaks English. I think they got it right, because as a photographer from Krakow, I feel comfortable with speaking English.
Preparations for the wedding near Krakow – good time for pictures
All wedding preparations were organized at the Żeleński Palace in Grodkowice – near Kraków and Wieliczka. It is a large building built in 1902 and designed by the well-known architect Teodor Talowski. The palace building, surrounded by greenery, is located in the park part on a hill. The palace hill offers a view of the Niepołomicka Forest and the Foothills. On clear days you can even see the peaks of the Three Crowns in the Pieniny. The Raba River flows nearby. However, the building itself will accommodate many wedding guests, as well as the bride and groom, who can easily invite here a hairdresser or make-up artist in the palace rooms. As a photographer, I think that this time – before the ceremony in the garden – is perfect for taking photos.
Outdoor session on the wedding day – is it a bad idea?
Even before the wedding ceremony, we planned a photo session. Just after the preparations were about to be over and before the wedding. We only left to the park of the Żeleński Palace. A twenty-minute outdoor photo session with a photographer is enough to capture the emotions of the day. Such portraits taken on the wedding day are a valuable memories. In addition, the bride and groom also managed to qucik photoshooting with wedding witnesses. Gentlemen, girls separately, and all together. Everyone had the opportunity to take pictures.
Park \ outdoor wedding ceremony – Pałac Żeleńskich Kraków
Full of Polish and American accents the wedding ceremony took place in the palace garden. It was here that the sacramental words about the love of Summer and Rafał were given. The guests did not hide their emotions. Immediately after putting on the rings, we took a group photo and the less official part began – conversations, toasts, wishes. It was not without welcoming the newlywedds with bread and salt, according to Polish custom. This is how the Palac Zelenskich outdoor wedding looks like.
Dog at the wedding – an interesting idea, how to manege it
Summer and Rafał have prepared special information for their guests. It concerned their wonderful dog, named BOWIE. Bowie observed all the ceremony and wedding party. (You will find the dog in the pictures.) The dog also had its own special 'corner’ where guests could only feed him with treats. There was information prepared – how a dog likes to be scratched, what it can eat and what will hurt it. Special treats were also prepared for the dog, which could be offered by the wedding guests.
